VII World Forum on Theology and Liberation
Montreal - August 2016
The seventh edition of the World Forum on Theology and Liberation (WTLF) was held in Montreal from August 8th.-13th. 2016. It was the first to occur in a northern country. The FMTL took place in two parts: on the 8th and 13th of August, two days exclusively FMTL at Brebeuf College; from August 9th to 12th, an FMTL program highly integrated with the general programming of the WSF, at the WSF venue and open to the public this great meeting. The Ecumenical Justice, Peace and Ecology Network (ROJeP, www.justicepaix.org ), a Quebec coalition in Quebec, strongly supported the local organization of the event in collaboration with the FMTL General Secretariat based in Porto Alegre, Brazil. 40 people from the ROJeP made up the organizing committee of fifteen volunteers and financial support from solidarity organizations that supported them.
During the six days together, the few 425 registered FMTL 2016 participated in many activities organized in 25 groups or organizations that have intervened or animation workshops. About 70 people presented in plenaries, workshops and round tables, and as part of a theater play, the presentation of a documentary, sharing and celebrating symbolic spaces.
Among the many subject presented in this forum, two were central: decoloniality and justice in an indigenous perspective; and gender and liberation, with an accent on deconstructing kyriarchal religion and cultures.
